In what was the first of a series of meetings with the country's government authorities, the focus was on ACOLOP's projects for the near future, as well as relations between the members of the Association, which is \"going through a phase of growth and consolidation\". During the audience, the official, who is also 1st vice-president of the Macau Olympic Committee, defended the importance of mutual help and the effective strengthening of the ties that unite the Lusophone Olympic family, \"shortening the distances between the countries and regions\" that make it up. With this in mind, Manuel Silv\u00e9rio revealed that, during his stay in Maputo, the Macau Olympic Committee and the Mozambican Olympic Committee will sign a co-operation agreement for the organisation of internships. In practice, the Mozambican sports delegation will be able to prepare for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in Macau. For Manuel Silv\u00e9rio, it is also very important for ACOLOP to strengthen the good relationship that already exists with the government authorities, an objective that, in order to be fulfilled, requires continuity of action. \"As everyone knows, ACOLOP is a non-governmental organisation. However, for our Association's work to be successful, it needs the support of the authorities in all the countries and regions to which its members belong. Since ACOLOP was established, we have received this essential support and we intend to continue strengthening the existing good relations,\" said Manuel Silv\u00e9rio, recalling that one of the priorities set for his term at the head of ACOLOP is precisely \"sensitising the various governments\" to the association's project. At the end of the meeting, Manuel Silv\u00e9rio was very satisfied with the exchange of ideas with David Simango. \"With my trip to the country, I wanted to get to know the working conditions in sport. The Mozambican government authorities are very committed and are betting on this area as one of the essential aspects for social development,\" said the president of ACOLOP. For his part, David Simango praised the work carried out by ACOLOP, regretting that he was unable to be present in Macau for the Lusophone Games and the inauguration of the Association's headquarters last February. Later this week, Manuel Silv\u00e9rio held other meetings with government authorities, including an audience with the Prime Minister of Mozambique, Lu\u00edsa Dias Diogo. Tian Guangfeng recalled that following the recent visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao to Mozambique, the two countries had further strengthened their already historic economic and cultural ties. \"Both countries are interested in developing new avenues of co-operation,\" commented the diplomatic representative. \"The 1st Lusophone Games precisely fostered these new forms of relationship.\" Tian assured that, as far as the Chinese Embassy in Maputo is concerned, \"actions that lead to co-operation will be supported.\" In the evening, at the end of the first of four days in Maputo, Manuel Silv\u00e9rio was received by the Mozambican Olympic Committee, at a dinner that allowed him to have closer contact with all the members of the sports organisation. The Olympic organisations of Macau and Mozambique are founding members of ACOLOP and have been working together since 2004, when the association was established. \"This was another opportunity to deepen our knowledge and exchange experiences.
