One year before the Beijing Olympics, the Heads of Mission of the ACOLOP member countries and regions who will lead their respective sports delegations next year met in the Chinese capital for a meeting led by the association's president Manuel Silv\u00e9rio. The main agenda items at the meeting included the state of preparation of the Olympic delegations from each of ACOLOP's members, as well as defining details related to the logistical support the association will provide its members during the event next year. \"With exactly one year to go until the start of the world's biggest sporting competition, ACOLOP must be present when its members are involved in an event as important as the Beijing Olympics,\" said Manuel Silv\u00e9rio. He also expressed his confidence in the sporting performance of each of the members next year and in the importance that ACOLOP will have to play during the event. \"After having been here in February with a delegation made up of the presidents of the member Olympic committees, visiting sports facilities and meeting with BOCOG, this General Assembly, among other things, served to bring together the association's Heads of Mission who will lead their respective delegations to Beijing and iron out the details of their participation.\" For the president of ACOLOP, this General Assembly \"showed the continuity of the preparation of ACOLOP and its members for next year\". He also revealed that the association's presence in Beijing will be effective and real, with the installation of the \"Casa da Lusofonia\" throughout the event, in order to support the Lusophone participation of its members. Also during the General Assembly held at the \"China World\" Hotel, details were discussed regarding the preparation stages that ACOLOP's member committees will carry out next year in Macau before travelling to the Chinese capital. ACOLOP's main meeting in the Chinese capital took place on the sidelines of the seminar for the Heads of Mission of the sports delegations from the more than 200 countries and regions taking part in next year's event, which is being organised by the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Organising Committee (BOGOC).
