The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, Edmund Ho Hau Wah, and took place at the Venetian Macau Resort, the venue for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games. An initiative of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Organising Committee of the Asian Indoor Games, and part of the official programme of the Games, this venue features various multi-sport events, such as the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010, the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam in 2009, the 1st Asian Beach Games in Bali in 2008, the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong in 2009 and the Olympic Games in Beijing next year. The aim is to make sports delegations and the organising city aware of upcoming Asian sporting events and the work of the organising committees responsible. With the 2nd Lusophone Games, Lisbon 2009, in mind, ACOLOP, through the Macau Olympic Committee, took advantage of the fact that it is simultaneously organising the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau and is the current presiding member of ACOLOP, to promote its activities and make its presence felt on the multi-sport stage where 45 countries and regions from the Asian continent will be taking part between 26 October and 3 November. For Manuel Silvério, president of the Association of Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees, "this is an excellent opportunity to promote ACOLOP and its biggest event, the Lusophone Games". "After Macau, we're all already thinking about the second edition in 2009, in Lisbon, so it's important to take advantage of large-scale multi-sport events to promote ACOLOP and its initiatives. Especially taking advantage of a promotional space at the Venetian~Macao~Resort, the largest hotel in Asia and the second largest integrated complex in the world, which welcomes tens of thousands of people every day." Although ACOLOP is a member of the Olympic Council of Asia - the Olympic Committees of East Timor, India, Sri Lanka and, of course, Macau - the promotional space dedicated to ACOLOP is the only one where its activities take place beyond the Asian continent. For Manuel Silvério, "this is a unique opportunity for the growth and positioning of ACOLOP and Lusophony." Present at the ceremony, Marcelino Macome, President of the Mozambican Olympic Committee and a member of ACOLOP's Supervisory Board, said it was "important for ACOLOP, which is growing, to be able to be present at as many sporting events as possible, promoting its activities and making itself known to the sporting world". For Franklin da Palma, president of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee and a member of ACOLOP, "ACOLOP's presence is a sign of growth and the possibility of promoting the 2nd edition of the Lusophone Games, which will take place in Portugal in 2007, is important and a challenge for future sporting events", adding that "it's a way of positioning ourselves and always being active in the sporting world". ACOLOP's promotional space will be open until the end of the Asian Indoor Games on 3 November.

[1

post-575","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-noticias
["GET
