Alex Vong promised a solid and structured organisation, stressing that the resources needed for this task depend to a large extent on the support of the Macau SAR and that this has been a constant in the history of ACOLOP's construction. The association has several missions, including \"continuing to serve the dissemination of the Portuguese language and culture through sport\". The project of the new governing bodies for the new term is to strengthen ties between ACOLOP's member countries and regions by creating a culture of proximity. The aim is to create opportunities for athletes and sports agents from the member countries and regions to work together, gradually preparing the next editions of the Lusophone Games. ACOLOP's new governing bodies received a congratulatory message from the president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, who wished ACOLOP and Alex Vong every success in their dedication to sport. ACOLOP's inauguration took place at a particularly happy time for its member countries and regions, who are celebrating the fair and well-deserved award of the organisation of the 2016 Olympic Games to Brazil.
