According to the data provided to the Association of Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees, there are 15 countries that prefer to communicate in Portuguese during the sporting event. As such, BOCOG assured us, special attention will be paid to the language, which is why today's contact with ACOLOP was particularly important. The issue of the Portuguese language was discussed during a morning of meetings between the Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and the ACOLOP delegation. The group from the Association of Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees was welcomed by Wang Wei, who was very pleased with the opportunity to make contact with the heads of the Olympic Committees of Portuguese-speaking countries. Manuel Silvério, president of ACOLOP's Executive Committee, emphasised the relevance of the meeting, especially as some of the representatives of the Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees were travelling to Beijing for the first time. He recalled the first edition of the Lusophone Games, held in Macau last October, to explain that "many of the athletes taking part in the Lusophone Games will be coming to Beijing in 2008 for what is the biggest sporting event in the world, so we consider this visit to Beijing and the opportunity BOCOG gives us to have close contact with the organisation's preparations to be particularly important." Considering the distance between the Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees and the 2008 Olympic Games, Manuel Silvério showed that ACOLOP - now based in Macau - is fully willing to help with communication with Beijing, acting as a platform between the different countries. "ACOLOP, with its modest contribution, will do its best to support the organisation of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Agreements have already been signed between the Macau Olympic Committee and ACOLOP member committees to organise pre-Games training for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games," he said. This morning, in addition to a general presentation on the work being carried out by the Organising Committee, ACOLOP members had the opportunity to gather information and discuss specific questions about participation in the Olympics with BOCOG officials from the various continents. After a working lunch with the organisation, the ACOLOP delegation visited various venues where the Olympic Games will be held, including the National Stadium and the National Aquatic Centre. "The work that BOCOG is doing is worthy of our most sincere admiration and is a fundamental contribution to the development of sport in Asia and the world. Beijing is sparing no effort to welcome its guests in the best possible way in 2008," said Manuel Silvério.

[1

post-621","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-noticias
["GET
