ANOC 2024 General Assembly in Portugal

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) today signed the contract for the organisation of the ANOC General Assembly in 2024. Gunilla Lindberg, Secretary General of ANOC, and José Manuel Constantino, President of the COP, signed the document that defines the collaboration between the two entities for the organisation of the event between 28 October and 1 November 2024 in the Cascais and Estoril areas.

This is a very important moment for the entire ACOLOP community, as it is the most prestigious event for Lusophony and important for advancing ACOLOP's own strategic agenda of affirming the Portuguese language.

Naturally, it will also be an opportunity for the usual extraordinary General Assembly of ACOLOP in Portugal, should the time come.

On the occasion, José Manuel Constantino highlighted "the significant moment of the signing", as it reflects the "confidence of the ANOC in the capacity of our Olympic Committee to cooperate in the organisation of this event". In about a year's time, at the end of the event, the COP President hopes that "ANOC will come out with prestige and the COP will come out recognised as an excellent host".

This signing followed the visit of an ANOC delegation to Cascais to discuss the preparation of the event with the Organising Committee. It should be remembered that the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committees will take place from 28 October to 1 November 2024, with the work centred on Cascais and Estoril. The General Assembly will bring together representatives from all 206 National Olympic Committees as well as International Federations, athletes and members of the International Olympic Committee structure, totalling around 1,000 participants. The ANOC Awards will also be presented, honouring the best sportspeople of 2024.

ANOC is the organisation responsible for protecting the interests of the 206 Olympic Committees represented on the International Olympic Committee, while also supporting its mission to promote the Olympic Values throughout the world. Founded in 1979, ANOC holds its General Assembly every year.

ACOLOP wishes you every success in organising the event and is naturally committed to making it a tremendous success.
