The Panathlon Club of Lisbon and the UNESCO Club for Sporting Values will be holding a session on 20 February on the subject of sporting values. "The new forms of sports consumption mediated by betting and their risks". The initiative is part of the mission of both organisations to promote reflection and debate on Sports Ethics.
The session's main objectives are:
- Debate the need (or not) to limit bookmakers' advertising;
- Analysing the normalisation of sports betting and the increase in betting practices among young people;
- Discuss the inclusion of responsible gambling education in sports integrity modules;
- Reflect on the benefits of sports betting and the definition of suitable types of bets.
The event is aimed at all sports agents, including managers, coaches, referees, physical education teachers, sports journalists and society in general, since the younger generations have been the favoured target of campaigns to encourage sports betting.
