Lusophone Athletes Forum in Cape Verde

The Cape Verde Olympic Athletes Commission, under the aegis of the Association of Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees (ACOLOP), will organise the Lusophone Athletes Forum and Lusophone Athletes Activation Workshop in Praia on 15 and 16 March 2024, at the Cape Verde National Library and Hotel Santiago (Achada de Santo António).

The Lusophone Athletes Forum and Lusophone Athletes Activation Workshop aims to be a space for dialogue, learning and sharing experiences between athletes, managers and other relevant players in the Lusophone sports world.

This is a unique event that offers the opportunity to discuss pertinent issues for the development of sport in our countries, as well as to enhance the role of athletes as agents of transformation in society.

The event will also feature a Lusophone Athlete Accelerator programme on both days. On the 15th, a Round Table will be held to promote themes associated with athletes' rights and responsibilities and to promote involvement with the athletes' association.

On the 16th, there will be a Training Workshop for Athletes' Commissions in the Portuguese-speaking world, with the aim of training commission members to work in a partnership and consortium environment and to optimise the implementation of the resources and opportunities available on the Athlete 365 platform.

Funded by the Cape Verde National Olympic Committee through Olympic Solidarity, the event aims to include at least one participant from each Olympic Committee of the 12 members of ACOLOP: Cape Verde, Angola, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Goa Olympic Association, Mozambique, Macau Olympic and Sports Committee, China, São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal, Timor-Leste and Sri Lanka.
