On 22 July 2025, the consortium Sporting Unity held its most recent online coordination meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe and Africa to review progress, exchange feedback and plan the activities planned for the second year of the project's implementation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of AL2SPORT (Italy), University of Thessaly (Greece), ACOLOP (Portugal), Cape Verde Olympic Committee (Cape Verde), GNO FAR (Senegal), Champions Factory Ghana (Ghana) and SAYPRO (South Africa), with the aim of aligning efforts between the different work packages (WPs) of the project.
The agenda began with a brief welcome message, before moving on to updates on research and the development of educational content for the Virtual Youth Exchanges. Each partner shared the current state of work in their respective countries, highlighting local adaptations and the challenges encountered in creating content. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that video resources respect copyright and are easily accessible.
A key point of the discussion was the platform usability. The feedback gathered from the young people who tested the Canvas platform was compiled into two review documents, which will serve as the basis for the next stages of perfecting the digital tool.
A AL2SPORT presented the Training for TrainersThe partners were given the opportunity to present their ideas, outlining their objectives, timetable and expectations regarding the involvement of facilitators. Partners were encouraged to appoint their trainers by 10th September and to consider including simultaneous translation for portuguese and french - a proposal from ACOLOP that was well received by the group.
In preparation for the Virtual Youth Exchanges, scheduled to take place between October 2026 and July 2027the partners began to draft their youth involvement strategies. With the aim of achieving 1,190 participants aged between 16 and 20, the initiative aims to mobilise schools, youth centres, universities and local organisations to ensure broad and inclusive participation.
A ACOLOP, which is leading the dissemination within the framework of WP5, reminded all partners of the importance of maintaining active communication on social networks, publishing at least once a month and registering these publications in the dissemination log.
The meeting ended with a clear definition of deliverables and deadlinesincluding:
- Collecting and reviewing national and international content (August - September)
- Identification and preparation of trainers (by mid-September)
- Finalisation of digital content and training materials (by October)
- Next coordination meeting scheduled for 23 October at 12h00 CET
This meeting reinforced the consortium's strong spirit of collaboration and underlined their collective commitment to promoting virtual and inclusive educational spaces for young people through sport and intercultural dialogue.
