The Association of National Olympic Committees of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (ACOLOP) was featured in the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) official newsletter, further highlighting the international recognition of the organisation’s work in promoting sport across the Portuguese-speaking world.
This announcement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between ACOLOP and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), which was formalised during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The agreement was signed by ACOLOP’s president, Filomena Fortes, who is also a member of the IOC.
The initiative opens up new opportunities for the development of Basebol5 in Portuguese-speaking countries, using the sport as a tool for inclusion, education and social development through sport.
The feature in the IOC newsletter highlights ACOLOP’s growing role on the international sporting scene and its commitment to strengthening cooperation and the development of sport amongst countries where Portuguese is the official language.
