The Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), in partnership with MACOVI Sport Club, organised a multi-sport event on Monday 8 June at Largo de São João, in Luanda, to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Association of Portuguese-Speaking National Olympic Committees (ACOLOP). The event brought together around 80 participants and highlighted the importance of sport in promoting unity and Olympic values.
The programme included a chess tournament and demonstrations of karate, judo and five-a-side football, providing opportunities for socialising and celebrating the various sports.

During the event, the COA reaffirmed its commitment to the development of sport in Angola and to promoting the Olympic ideals. The partnership with MACOVI Sport Club was highlighted for its contribution to the training of young athletes, particularly in the sport of chess.
Under the motto “Sport that unites us”, the celebration of ACOLOP’s 22nd anniversary also served to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries, promoting cultural and sporting exchange.
The initiative was deemed a success, reaffirming the role of sport as a means of fostering inclusion, solidarity and closer ties amongst Portuguese-speaking peoples.
