Sporting Unity promotes exchanges between young people from Portugal and Cape Verde through the Kumunidadi Movement

Throughout June, the Sporting Unity project brought together young people from Portugal and Cape Verde for a series of sessions focused on learning, dialogue and sharing, organised by the Institute of Educational Sciences (ICE) and the Maracanã Association, as part of the Kumunidadi Movement.

The initiative provided a space for intercultural exchange where participants developed their leadership, teamwork and active citizenship skills, demonstrating how sport can be a powerful tool for inclusion, education and social transformation.

By sharing their experiences and perspectives, the young people gained a deeper understanding of different cultural realities, thereby reinforcing values that are essential for building more cohesive and inclusive communities.

The project thus continues to promote the Olympic values of Respect, Inclusion, Friendship and Solidarity, encouraging a new generation of leaders committed to promoting peace, cooperation and development through sport.

The activities culminated in the organisation of a community festival, the Kumunidadi Fest, which took place on 4 July and featured a wide range of sporting and artistic activities, as well as activities designed to foster critical thinking.
