ACOLOP launches a pilot initiative for the Sporting Unity project with Cape Verde

The Association of Portuguese-Speaking National Olympic Committees (ACOLOP) has launched a pilot capacity-building initiative as part of the Sporting Unity project, in partnership with the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee.

This collaborative pilot project represents a concrete step towards fulfilling our mission: to promote intercultural understanding and critical thinking about the links between Olympic Education and colonial legacies.

The initiative brings together key local organisations, including the Maracanã Association, the Achada Grande Trás Football School Association (EFAT) and the Fidel Mendonça Foundation, all part of the Comunidade365 network, reinforcing a shared commitment to the empowerment, inclusion and social justice of young people.

Through dialogue, educational tools and community involvement, this pilot project will:

To promote intercultural skills amongst the young participants

To encourage reflection on historical narratives in sport

Strengthening cooperation between Olympic and Community organisations

“Bringing Cultures Together Through Olympic Values” is the message behind the Sporting Unity project, which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
